Test Results

x-ray-resultsPlease call in the afternoon to enquire about your test results as our reception staff will have more time to deal with your request.

Note that the practice has a strict policy regarding confidentiality and data protection and we will only release test results to the person to whom they relate unless that person has given prior permission for the release of this data or they are not capable of understanding the results.

When you take your test you will be told how long it will be before the results are returned to the practice.

It is your responsibility to check your results and to make an appointment to discuss them with your doctor if your are advised to do so.

The results process

When awaiting results it can be quite worrisome. Below is a step by step process of the results system at our practice:

Step 1: You have the test done & it is sent to the hospital for testing

Step 2: The results then come to us electronically as a 'provisional result'

Step 3: A notification is sent to the GP to view the results & determine whether they are normal or abnormal.

It is your responsibility to contact us to get your results however WE WILL contact you if your results are ABNORMAL. Please also understand that our reception staff are not clinically trained therefore can't interpret all the results which is why the Doctors need to view them and mark them as 'normal' or 'abnormal' with a note of appropriate action to take e.g. book appointment with Dr to discuss.

Average waiting times for blood test results to come back is 3-4 days however can sometimes take a bit longer depending on what the blood is being tested for. Other results such as x-rays & MRIs take significantly longer and can be longer than a month for us to get the reports back so please be patient.
